This difference between the sexes came to mind yesterday after I received two barely literate, pointlessly slandering and rather odd messages from my Sir’s ex’s daughter via Facebook. The messages in themselves weren’t especially upsetting but a) getting them in the first place was, in that I had nothing to do with my Sir whilst he was with his ex (aside from occasionally talking to him on EVE Online) and b) both men independently made me feel like I was over-reacting. Which I was but that is not the point!
So this difference .. when women feel attacked, in any form, they like to have their nearest and dearest immediately come down on their side in absolutely no uncertain terms, a safety in numbers. You can see this on any pissed girl’s night out in your town – clumps of women flocking to the toilets to mop tears and make-up from their friend’s face.
And men? I don’t really know, both men in this instance chuckled at the absurdity of the messages and explained them away because “she’s also a victim” .. “she must have been drinking” .. whatever. I don’t want you to explain why I shouldn’t feel attacked by something like this, I want you to be on my side because I *do* feel attacked.
